Design Flow
The design flow for an IC starts from the functional definition. Based on the functional definition and system requirements, detailed design specifications will be defined. Architecture definition is an important phase of the design and strongly affects the system performance. Once the architecture is designed, the high level system requirements for receiver, transmitter, and frequency synthesizer will be converted to the specifications of the building blocks, followed by detailed circuit and layout design.
Schematic and layout of the blocks will be designed to meet the specifications over process, supply voltage, and temperature corners (PVT). This process requires iteration between schematic design, layout design, and post layout simulations. After the top level integration, full system verification will be performed. The final fully verified GDS will be taped-out.
